  1. FDA Approves First Oral GLP-1 Pill for Obesity: Novo Nordisk's oral semaglutide (Wegovy pill) gained FDA approval as the first oral GLP-1 for chronic weight management and cardiovascular risk reduction in adults with obesity. It launched broadly in the U.S. in early January 2026.

  2. Bipartisan SAFE Drugs Act Introduced: Reps. Rudy Yakym (R-IN) and André Carson (D-IN) introduced H.R.6509, the SAFE Drugs Act of 2025, to strengthen compounding oversight—including clearer "essentially a copy" definitions, out-of-state shipping reports, and stricter inspections/cGMP requirements.
