Would a group buying discount on peptide APIs and testing help you?

I just wanted to put this out there and maybe I can understand where everyone stands and their own ideas. We are like a lot of 503a pharmacies that are trying to pivot from the GLP side of things to peptides. Struggling to get fellow pharmacists and ownership to put money into initial testing, and method suitability's and all the initial costs to start compounding a new sterile product without generating sales first. Some want sales then they will make it, some want the client to buy the whole batch. How do you navigate the ability to add new products to your inventory without having sales already.

We are exploring whether we should create a Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) to leverage our collective size. If we did, here's what it could look like:

  • 15-25% off peptide APIs — bulk pricing from reputable suppliers

  • 30-40% off compliance testing — group rates with labs like ARL, Eagle

  • Shared stability studies — split costs across pharmacies instead of paying alone

The bottom line: less upfront risk, lower ongoing costs, faster time to revenue on new formulations.

If we get 50+ interested members, we'll move forward with supplier negotiations this quarter.
